
Creating a Unified yet Flexible Visual Communication System
As the parent company of several subsidiaries, Merdeka Copper Gold required a comprehensive visual communication guideline to ensure consistent messaging across various internal and external channels. The primary goal was to enable each division to communicate more effectively while maintaining a cohesive and professional brand image.
First, we gathered input from each division to understand their specific communication needs. From there, we mapped and categorized the required templates. We then developed a clear and user-friendly guideline, structured by communication channels—email, social media, and printed materials. The key challenge was to design a system that struck the right balance: simple enough for daily use yet flexible and comprehensive enough to support a wide range of content and design variations.
To meet this challenge, we designed a set of adaptable visual assets. This includes a color system representing different divisions, key visuals, and a range of layout templates. Specifically for social media, one of the company’s primary external communication tools, we created topic-based templates in Canva format to ensure usability for non-designers. These templates enable teams to stay on-brand while working efficiently, with oversight and consistency maintained by the corporate communication division.
This guideline enhances brand awareness externally and fosters a sense of unity and pride within the company.
